Submit Your Recipe
We’re making a cookbook of delicious, healthy recipes contributed by the people of Flint. Be part of the Savor The Flavor of Flint Recipe Drive and contribute your favorite recipe. Here are some of the things our team of food lovers, dietitians and chefs are looking for in the recipes they select:
- Original recipes
- Foods high in calcium, iron, and Vitamin C, which can minimize lead absorption while helping keep adults and children healthy. Examples include:
- Calcium -- Milk, yogurt, cheese, leafy green vegetables, canned salmon or sardines, tofu
- Iron -- Lean red meats, fish, chicken, beans, peas, lentils, iron-fortified whole grains in cereal, bread, pasta
- Vitamin C -- Citrus fruits like oranges, grapefruit, lemons, and limes; melons; berries; vegetables such as tomatoes, peppers, broccoli, cauliflower, spinach, sweet potatoes
- Approximately 10 ingredients, preferably 5 or less
- Easy-to-find ingredients
- Uses basic kitchen utensils, cooking tools and appliances
- Does not contain alcohol
Recipes should be easy to read, and as easy to follow as possible. Make sure to include:
- Preparation and cook times
- Number of servings
- Cooking and storing temperatures
Select recipes will be chosen to participate in a showcase and tasting at the Savor the Flavor of Flint Celebration on January 27, 2018. All recipes submitted during the Recipe Drive will be considered for inclusion in a future Savor the Flavor of Flint Cookbook.
